Frank Zappa Collaboration IPA

February 4, 2021

From a lifelong love of his music and the coincidence that there was a hop named after the man himself Duck Foot Brewing is honored to launch our tribute beer to one of our all time favorite musicians Frank Zappa the Grand Wazoo!

Matt Del Vecchio, Head Quack of Duck Foot Brewing says,
“Our tribute beer not only celebrates his artistry and his music but his life.”

“Why Does It Hurt When IPA?”

Was it fun coming up with a name for a Frank Zappa tribute beer?
Damn straight it was… If you’re a fan you know what we’re talking about.

A FITTING TRIBUTE

After many beers, and leafing through our Zappa vinyl catalogs – we ended up with over 50 names. In the end, one stood out as a winner to us and Frank’s son Ahmet.

Graciously the Zappa Trust offered up access to a previously unseen photo shoot by John Williams, who is known for the Zappa album covers he created. Fittingly, he also designed the cover for Joe’s Garage – which is what our label is inspired by. Frank is on the can, so to speak, with photographs from the Zappa archives on the beer label.https://www.youtube.com/embed/wSb01aacm3c

ZAPPA HOPS

The Zappa hop, like the man, has a hugely eclectic style. Published flavor notes have ranged from passion fruit, mint, spicy, savory, fruity cereal, and uh… purple. (Try the beer, you’ll get it). Just like Frank, this hop is one of a kind and awesome.https://www.youtube.com/embed/EClTBZ2tlO8

Made with love, and tons of Zappa hops, this is a very limited release beer, only 200 cases available.

Check out our feature on billboard written by Rania Aniftos.

“You can’t be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.” -Frank Zappa

We are stoked to share this collaboration with you.

Cheers!

Do I Smell Tortilla Chips In Más Y Masa?

For this collaboration with Los Lobos we wanted to find something that would tie the beer to tradition while also pushing some limits. We wanted a crushable, light beer but that doesn’t mean that it has to be devoid of interesting character. So instead of...

Which Came First, Beer or Baseball?
